Presentation Summary: This presentation will provide an overview of Articles 8 and 9 of the New York State Labor Law, which govern New York’s prevailing wage requirements. The NYS Department of Labor will review the responsibilities of contracting agencies, as well as modernization initiatives within the Bureau of Public Work, including the Contractor Registry, the Electronic Certified Payroll portal, and other program updates.
Presenter Bio:
Justin Schiller is a Supervising Investigator for Long Island. He has spent the past 10 years enforcing Articles 8 and 9 of the Labor Law and investigating prevailing-wage violations throughout New York State.
Justin and his team of investigators are committed to educating contractors, public entities, and workers about the law, their rights, and their responsibilities. Their mission is to foster compliance with all provisions of the Labor Law, protect workers’ rights, help ensure that legal requirements are followed, and prevent wage theft within New York’s workforce.
